Romeo and Juliet - Blewbury Players' Open Air Production

19 July 2021 - 8:20pm - 24 July 2021 - 10:30pm

Romeo and Juliet will be set in the 1960s, when Mods clashed with Rockers and music was groovy, fun and loud. Our director said ‘I wanted to find a setting for the production that spoke directly to us and the world we live in.  That era, its fashions and its music, has a hint of nostalgia for us now, which I hope our audiences will enjoy.’

The production, postponed from last year due to the pandemic, will be directed by Christopher Staines who previously directed A Servant to Two Masters and Cider with Rosie for us.  He comments ‘most of the cast were auditioned at the very start of February last year, so it’s been a very long wait for us all. These title roles cry out to be filled by aspiring young actors and I couldn’t be more pleased to have George and Buket, who are in the middle of their training, leading the company.’

We are taking careful steps this year to keep all our cast, crew and audiences comfortable and safe in  our open-air theatre.

Romeo and Juliet will be performed in the Garden Theatre, Orchard Dene, Blewbury from Monday 19 July to Saturday 24 July at 8.00 every evening and also at 3.00 on Saturday.  Online box office and details from 4 June at
