Stonesfield Players: Cold Comfort Farm
Written by Stella Gibbons and dramatised by Paul Doust this hilarious parody of rural country life in the early 1930s is our next production on November 13, 14 & 15 at 7.30pm at Stonesfield Village Hall.
Cold Comfort Farm, home of her cousins the Starkadders, is where society girl, Flora Poste, finds herself after her parents left her with only a strong will and a slender ankle to sustain her. Here she finds deeply depressed Judith, religious zealot Amos, gloomy and despairing Reuben, lothario Seth and nature child Elfine along with a host of other half mad and lost inhabitants living in rambling and gloomy chaos. Presiding over them all is Aunt Ada Doom who, as a child, saw something nasty in the woodshed and has never let anyone forget it. Can Flora restore order and harmony and will Ada Doom let her?
