ODN Drama Festival, Unicorn Theatre - Rosebowl awarded to John Bradford

Created 17.06.2008 - 13:32
The Colin Dexter Rosebowl award for a theatrical moment was awarded to John Bradford for the exploding goldfish bowl in Old Gaol's play "Ruffian on the Stair", by Joe Orton
Gala Night Plays - Chosen by the Adjudicator :-
1. Stagelights... "Improbable Fiction"... by Alan Ayckbourn. This play brings us together with a small "creative writing group" of struggling writers meeting to discuss progress so far with their work. They are a motley collection varying from a historical romance writer, to science fiction and even instruction leaflets! So the chairman Arnold (instruction leaflets) set out to get a report on status so far from all the members - well those that have turned up - we now get the dubious pleasure of seeing how far they've got!

2. Paper the House Productions... "In Two Minds"... by Kate Belcher.  Two women, a daughter and a mother.  One in her right mind, one who has seemingly lost hers. One struggling to understand. One struggling to break free.

3. Balancing Act... "Dancing to the Sound of Crunching Snails"... by Joe Graham.   We don't choose these memories, they are forced upon us.... like smells. For some people, Christmas is John Lennon's moralistic & hopeful classic protest song : "Happy Christmas War is Over". For me, it happens to be Uncle Bulgaria.

====================================================

A Festival of one-act plays 1st - 7th June were performed by ODN member drama groups from all over Oxfordshire - with a gala night on the Saturday night with plays from the week chosen by our Adjudicator. This year, our Adjudicator was Mr Tony Rushforth a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators. As you can see, our Patron, Colin Dexter, was also able to make it again this year.
